Teenage is the time when the body is growing very fast and these changes can often be overwhelming for a teenager.
Adjustment to these physical as well as mental changes can be a challenge for some while on the other hand others might undergo
a smooth transaction. Many teenagers face a lot of difficulty to adapt to these changes that are happening at a fast pace.
Now day’s teenage girls are influenced with the idea of being skinny or size zero and guys get influenced by muscular men.
This struggle to keep themselves in perfect shape at all times causes many problems such as eating disorders, which mostly
originate during adolescence.
Girls are often seen suffering from anorexia or are bulimic. Anorexia is an eating disorder where a person refuses to maintain a
healthy body weight, because of a compulsive fear of gaining weight. In such a condition they completely decline eating food as a
result over time the body weight dwindles. Bulimia is another eating disorder where a person restrains their food intake or over
indulges in eating which is followed by a defense act of vomiting, fasting, over exercising etc. this mainly occurs in women more
than men. These are very dangerous diseases which not only take a toll on the physical health but also gravely affect the mental health
of the individual who is suffering from either one of the two disorders. In very acute cases it also results in death.
With the rapid changes taking place in the body, teenage children should be more careful about their diet and eating habits.
Even though
being size zero was once in vogue but the trend would always be of staying healthy. The body needs all the nutrients in a fixed
proportion and this can only happen with the intake of a balanced diet. This must consist of fruits, vegetables and other protein
foods. Our body requires more than 40 nutrients. Maintain your weight by exercising and don’t over stress your body as it has negative
effects and won’t help in loosing weight at a faster speed. Eat regularly and never skip any meal. Always remember that all meals are
very important and have their own significance. Eat small and frequent meals balanced in all the nutrients. Keep your weight under check
depending on your age, sex, height etc. even if you have to change your eating habits then introduce this change gradually not in a jiffy
as this can also lead to gaining those extra pounds.
